Salted Beef (Jahng jo-rim)

Six (6) servings.

  • 1/4 pound beef
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 1/3 cup shoyu (Korean soy sauce)
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon candied ginger

Add water to the beef and cook until tender. Add soy sauce, sugar, chopped ginger and continue cooking until the beef is dark brown and only a small amount of liquid remains.

Tear into strips 1 1/2 inch long and 1/4 inch wide.

The meat is very salty and is eaten in small amounts with rice.
