Korea, "The land of the morning calm", and Korean food and cooking has its own distinct character that has managed to live through the turmoils of recent history.

As with most countries, it is the Korean cuisine that binds the people together - food is more a part of a country's history and culture than any wars or political upheavals because recipes for food outlast both.

Traditional Korean recipes are well-known for being seasoned with hot red peppers, soya sauce, garlic and scallions.

Kim Chee, or Kimchi, is to the Koreans as Sauerkraut is to the Germans and as Takuan is to the Japanese.
